I usually don't reply to these types of posts, but I have to agree with Valecnik, my "go to" machine for listening and demonstrating a cylinder player is my Triumph Model F, Opera motor & cabinet, Model O and Model Diamond B reproducers and Music Master cygnet horn.
Came from original owner that kept it in the house, that was nearly 40 years ago, still has original pot metal bearing.
Owned an Opera years ago and didn't really like it, sold it after a month and haven't had a desire to own another.

Yup. I also have an Opera, Amberola 1A, 1B and III. All good machines but the large carriage Triumph is the most trouble free and the best for playing records that are warped or slightly out of round.ChuckA wrote: Sun Dec 08, 2024 9:10 am I usually don't reply to these types of posts, but I have to agree with Valecnik, my "go to" machine for listening and demonstrating a cylinder player is my Triumph Model F, Opera motor & cabinet, Model O and Model Diamond B reproducers and Music Master cygnet horn.

I love my Opera, but actually find that I like two minute cylinders more than four. My most reliable two minute machine is an Edison Standard with a model C reproducer. In my opinion an Edison home that plays well with 2/4 minute hearing is also a really nice alternative.
