We also need to keep in mind that Stanton's has a 23% buyer's premium. I've found particularly and smaller/easy to ship items, once you tack on that 23%, prices aren't that much lower.

It's 15% for onsite bidders. I believe the 23% is for online bidding?

Yes. 23% online. . . and of course if, like me, you're not onsite, you can tack on the price of shipping.

I've been to many auctions and saw things sold to on line bidders. I often wonder what they thought when they finally get to see what they bought. Often there are issues that are not noticeable in the pictures shown.

I'm batting about .500 on my Stantons and Donley's remote purchases. I've only made one purchase I actually regret and lost major money on (more than $500). The others just required a bit more work than anticipated. The loses are balanced by some good buys. I can live with the online premium. The real killer is the shipping. Over $1,000 for machines from the last auction. Expertly packed though. Yet it would cost the shipping or more for me to fly/drive/stay for either auction from the west coast.

So, do I wish I lived close to either auction house or one the expos, yes. But I don't, so I have no alternative. And to be fair, I've also paid more than auction prices + premium to very reputable collectors for machines I want, only to find challenges too.
