Thanks to everyone that shared kind words. And yes I did learn a lot! Fortunately there are plenty of excellent youtube videos on restoring antiques. (BTW I am female)

PLEASE, do not play records that way. The reproducer goes to the right side of the turntable. What you're doing destroys records.

Good to know! I tried that because when the needle was on the right it stayed on the outer edge and never played even after 2-3 tries. I must have been setting it down wrong. Will keep the needle on the right.
