English Pathéphone cabinet gramophone?

The wider question is: what do all those sellers who sell a gramophone showing one lousy record on the turntable, which invariably they make a point of stating "is not included", actually do with that record afterwards? Are they hopeful of a surprise valuation for it on the Antiques Roadshow? Why the suspicion always that the record is incredibly valuable but not the gramophone?
