Wrong soundbox (with Nicole soundbox).

Suspicious winding handle.

Too tall horn cradle (may just need bending down).

Replacement turntable felt.

The leather elbow has an unusual but old aluminium collar holding it to the horn.

The travelling arm is unusual on a short horn machine but still a Zonophone part which appears to have been with the machine a long time, it is adjustable and the nickel plate at the end shows it’s not now set in the right position.

I still like this machine, it has potential.

The Zonophone sold for £650 hammer price, total with buyer’s premium £868.

No but I think it was a healthy price in the current market especially considering the wrong soundbox.

And wrong winding handle? The Pathé with the lyre grille made an even healthier £700 plus commission. All this whilst the portables sold for £25 each and Auction Team Breker were concurrently selling a ton of items well below estimates including the DG Senior Monarch I've shown in the "Brass MG horn" thread. The current market is batty. One thing I noted was that nothing in the Roy Woodcock Collection appeared to be in very good condition or of special note. Most of it was in a sad state or just rather cheap end of the market stuff to start with. You only have to look at the clocks to see this but the gramophones still appeared to be very much of secondary interest.

The current market is batty! I note an HMV 104 sold for £5 and a grandfather clock sold for £25. Other items faired better but nothing went that high.

The little Thorens Bijou which I placed a mean bid on went for £120 (or £160 total). Just needs dusting:

I'd practically given up looking at all the other junk before I got to that. Yes, it does look okay. It looks like I might have won one other piece of rubbish from this sale, after all. No doubt it'll end up on Ebay.
