Yes, this is the Needle Type Portable, which preceded the P-1 and P-2 and is much harder to find than either of those. What you show is indeed a parts machine, but the good parts, IMHO are already gone. The unique reproducer will be the major challenge. I'm not sure if the tone arm is unique to this machine or exists on other Prime models. Personally, I would avoid this as restoration will be time consuming and expensive.

Thanks for your insight. I listed it for sale on this site, accepting offers.

As a guide, here's a complete one here -- https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/20 ... phonograph -- with a close up of the reproducer/soundbox.

I see. So there are some other tone arms that would fit if someone simply wanted to make the machine functional.

Here are a couple of photos of the Edison Needle-Cut Portable that we have. It is a rather scarce item, and the Art-Deco design is stunning. The hinge assembly on the sides are very unusual. Sometimes the reproducer shows up on Ebay. I believe the Edison portables were manufactured by Prime Mfg. in Milwaukee, WI.

Well, it's apparent that my asking price of $75 was too high. I just reduced it.
