I plan to be there, unless some last minute glitch comes up like last year. God forbid I ever miss another, it's a highlight of my year!

Jerry,
I look forward to seeing you all and I'll be there with some new beers for you to try. I hope to find some of my Union "wishlist" items this year. The list is quite small this year. I am looking for the small wooden boxes that the Victor Concert or Exhibition reproducers came in, an all brass front mount horn for a Victor, and an extended wooden tone arm for a Victor. I have the oversized horn and tone arm bracket extender. If I have good sales then I might even look for a Rigid arm M to complete my Rigid arm Victors.
I never thought I would ever see a Rigid arm for sale and now have the E, R, and MS. You just never know what will show up at Union.

I will be there. I do not have any blanks, I have about 3 months of catchup. By the way, an artist I am working with convinced me I should include myself in my cylinder research name, so it is Borri Audio Laboratories and Archives. I just finished a wax cylinder session, that took place over the last month, and finished the mastering stage to analog tape yesterday (yes I used 15ips on 10 ½" reels, 2 track). This work will be issued on red vinyl and made at Jack White's record plant, it is a totally analog recording. I used an 1890s style Standard Speaker style Edison recording head, the one I have used for most of my work, I have two of them. I had the choice to use the later style mica diaphragm on the floating box kind, that was very loud and sensitive, but that is not what the artist wanted for the sound. I used a special hand made diaphragm that I fabricated. I hope you all have been enjoying the MAPS articles on the technical research on wax cylinders, It seems I will be able to write an article for about every issue. What needs to be understood about making cylinder blanks is the fact the process is very slow. Yes you can mold a blank, and record on it in a few hours, but that is not safe! : blanks contract and change over the course of about 30 days, and cure and harden, the change in hardness in just a few days is quite surprising. The most blanks I ever made in a single day is 40. The average 14 hour day will produce about a dozen blanks. I might mold 30 blanks to the 14 accepted blanks. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/337 ... l-analog-r Collectors, please do not harass artists I work with. This is the fist time I posted in a long time, because I was quite angry with someone who was defamatory on here, but I am not going to name names, I am going to move on, and forge ahead, discouragement fuels the fires of creativity. I am Not a collector, but a hands on mad audio scientist, I am not going to apologize for it, if someone says something is impossible in the audio field, I want to turn it into a reality. Weather it is making blanks, or learning how to cut a lacquer or other audio aspect. I had fun this week working with original PULTEC EQP 1A, and Teletronix LA-1 Limiter used by Gene Autry. I constantly work on my blanks, with each batch to make them better my goal is eventually is to make a high fidelity noiseless phonogram blank. If you are curious about me just talk to me at Union If you have questions about recording, just call me. The last two months I have molded 197 blanks, and made quite a few recordings for bands, and artists. I do not work with cylinders and audio full time, as it is spotty and not predictable. I work as a DSP through a DHS funded organization, full time.

Well, crap! Due to circumstances beyond my control, it doesn't look like I'll be there this year after all.

I'll be there...I've only missed one show in the past 8 years (in 2008, when I had a broken leg).

I won't be there, but something special will be making an epic journey
from Union to my living room in California. Stay tuned for more details...
