Hmmm. I must annoy the hell out of you then. I play electric records on horn machines all the time! Edisons, too!drh wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2026 6:18 pm That's the worst transgression, but also it's playing a 1940s record to demonstrate a (far) pre-electric era machine. Another very common annoyance.

Many thanks, Jamie, much appreciated.jamiegramo wrote: Sun Mar 15, 2026 5:49 pmThere you go Steve.Steve wrote: Sun Mar 15, 2026 5:55 am Nothing wrong with the picture that I cannot see!
IOW, it might be useful to save the picture in the first instance and add it here for the rest of us who don't have FB and never will.![]()
I think it might be helpful if there was a permanent "sticky" at the head of this main forum, that politely requests that members add at least a photo of an item they are referring to and not rely on links to outside websites, as links can disappear over time, or simply time-out, or can often be hidden behind a pay-wall or other "member only" site. I'm aware of some forums that ban the use of links to other sites, which is perhaps a little extreme.
Any thoughts, David?

It's all about perspective, isn't it? I do exactly the same but I make sure my soundboxes are in tip-top condition firstly so they can handle the extreme frequencies so as to sound good and not damage the record anymore than necessary. With that said, none of my records are particularly valuable and will probably all be discarded in the future!gramophone-georg wrote: Mon Mar 16, 2026 1:41 amHmmm. I agree with you Steve. As you probably know there is a permanent sticky, requesting as above, at the head of eBay, Craigslist & Auction House Alerts forum. However many take no notice of it.Steve wrote: Mon Mar 16, 2026 5:40 amMany thanks, Jamie, much appreciated.jamiegramo wrote: Sun Mar 15, 2026 5:49 pmThere you go Steve.Steve wrote: Sun Mar 15, 2026 5:55 am Nothing wrong with the picture that I cannot see!
