"CAPS" is the California Antique Phonograph Society, which is having its annual show and banquet the second weekend in August in Orange County, CA. Many members and show attendees bring phonographs and other supplies from all over the west. I'll be attending for the first time this year, and am looking forward to it!

I would like to add that the CAPS Show last year was great! There were many wonderful collectors to meet and lots of phonographs, records, and accessories were available. It's a great opportunity to exchange information, share experiences, and add to your collection.

Re: Phonos for CAPS
Please excuse my ignorance.
Is CAPS the biggest such gathering in The US or are there other big regional organizations with annual shows? Years ago I was a member of NAWCC (National Assoc of Watch & Clock Collectors which had a big annual gathering that moved every year to a new state or region. I attended only once when it came to Austin, Texas. The prices were the lowest I had ever seen and the concentration of knowledge was amazing! I'm jealous.

Re: Phonos for CAPS
The CAPS show is the largest antique phono/record show on the west coast, but the largest in the U.S. is the annual Union show, held in Union Illinois the second weekend of every June. There are also a spring and fall show in Wayne, N.J. every year that are well worth attending.
Sounds like you should join the Michigan Antique Phonograph Society, or the California Antique Phonograph Society - or both - to be kept up to date on upcoming shows and auctions. Go to www.antiquephono.org. for the CAPS site.
