Re: Has Anyone Heard Of This Tinfoil Phono Inventor?
If any one needs information on Charles P. Carter I have his personnel scrapbook and photo's, etc. His son, Charles H. Carter was married to my great aunt, Pauline Carter (nee Gilzinger). Charles P. Carter was born in Enfield, Ma. which is now under the Quabbin Reservoir. His first invention was the apple corer which he made $50,000. from but lost due to legal costs due to patent infringements on his product. His primary occupation was that of a watch maker and locksmith and by the end of his life was known as the "Wizard of Wall St.", Kingston, NY at least. I have more to include a newspaper obit detailing how he made a tin foil talking machine (before Edison") for the amusement of his kids but never thought much more of it.
