While I have yet to disassemble a C250 or C19, the mounting arrangement looks just like my A250, in which case actually there is no wooden "motor board" at all. The metal base plate rests on supports underneath and the wood you see around the base plate is "false work," i.e., basically just boards laid in to cover up the holes that would otherwise be there.

This was all an elaborate, and rather clever, scheme to avoid infringing Victor patents. You can find the background about this in chapter 3 of Frow’s “The Edison Disc Phonographs and the Diamond Discs.”

Your absolutley right as the wood piece that is around the metal motor board is held on be only two screws and rests on the 3 motor board support brackets. The motor board looks and feels like cast iron an is relatively heavy. The brakeformed brackets are held in place by 8-10 screws each, with one on the left and two on the right.

As for the speed control, if you look at the dial closely you'll see it's made of paper so if anyone has a good pic of what it's supposed to look like so i can fab it up or better yet has one, let me know .

I looked around for some new trim pieces for the C19 because there was only one of the four corners that were either missing bits or badly damaged. I decided to machine up some new moulding to use on the trim (bit to slow on getting the ones from Jerry) and mitered and installed them in place of the broken ones. I have several 8 inch long pieces left and if anyone wants some, let me know. Now off to repair the gouges and then to the motor.

Forgive me for asking but, did you make the new moldings out of oak to put on a mahogany machine?

By the way, you did a beautiful job of making the molding.

No forgiveness needed as I machined several pieces to get a similar grain look to use. Finding a good piece of mahogany was a problem but I can always try again if the look doesn't come out right after staining.
