Yeah, it would be nice to see some different pictures instead of the same
one we have seen for 12 auctions now.

Paypal guarantee. Maybe one of these times it could be real but who cares you stop payment and move on. Having traveled many times in Eastern and Central Europe these things do turn up and I have purchased them. Our Prague member will attest to that. If your purchase is protected where is the risk maybe a possible reward? Sure it has all the hallmarks of fake lister and copy photo but I remember my first eBay sale listing. Yep, my score was zero feedback. Hmm. Of course without a return money guarantee I would not bid. I have been down the road with Paypal and my account was credited without any problem. LH

True, Paypal sides with the buyer always so the risk is on the seller. I wonder if the seller pulls the cash out though. If Paypal refunds the buyer still, they would be out the money. If Paypal loses their money its a good thing in my opinion.

Larry, that is certainly one way to look at this sale. I'm starting to wonder if there is more then money with this. If most (not all) send the payment though PayPal then why bother???. Even if one out of five send cash.....is it even worth it???. After all we are not talking a lot of $$$ here. No, I'm starting to think these guys are going after something else. Maybe they are getting certain info from buyers that helps them access something else???. Lets face it....if your the buyer you are going to be very excited (like Larry was) in getting a very rare machine for peanuts. During that excitement maybe it at that moment they are able to extract that info from you????. Who knows???. There is something in it for them that's for sure.
I for one would be watching all my accounts after this. Just food for thought..... :coffee:

I'm with Gramophone78. I wonder if they contact the buyer with an email with embedded link that can insert a virus, or a key stroke mole. Slightly OT, but it's good practice to change your ebay password periodically.

Remember what the seller does get is your real email address that's linked to both your ebay and paypal accounts!! emails can have embedded viruses.

There are so many things may go wrong when buying things on eBay!

I received a Brunswick Panatrope portable several days ago. Although the eBay seller put pictures and even a demo video on the listing, it was not working when arrived. I opened up the case and discovered signs of previous unsuccessful repair attempt (screws being removed, gears incorrectly assembled, etc).

There's always risk buying things on eBay. In this case, I took the risk, got the machine I was looking for, then spent time to make it working again. C'est la vie!
