If you've got especially valuable records sandwich them in cardboard (10 or 12 inch squares) and secure with tape. Valueless vinyl LP's in sleeves can be used. If you don't have cardboard to spare then you can put records of no value on the outside of a stack and tape them around the edges.

Is it ever a good idea to keep the records in the albums when packing them?

well it would provide a bit of extra padding against any knocks that might otherwise break them

Hey all! The move is over, and most stuff is unpacked. Thanks for all the advice on how to move my record collection. Haven't found any broken ones yet, and don't plan to find any either.
