I said "If I had the money, I'd still give it house room" but apparently this is "trying to put people off". Bless him. Just because I pointed out that he's now claimed to have bought the same HMV 203 twice, 15 months apart.
Sorry, you've got me there. Who made these comments, when and where? I can't see that anyone has said anything like this anywhere, least of all me?

That part wasn't in reply to your quote. It concerned the link in my Wed Jul 04, 2012 11:02 am post. Sorry for any confusion.


How much would you expect to pay a professional restorer to work on the 203 cabinet on eBay; to remove the problems without making it look new? Can you remove the expansion crazing from polish like that?

A rough ballpark figure would be £500 including transport. The remove of the crazing is a different matter. As Steve wrote, the lacquer is authentic and I would leave it as it is - with a little wax polish.

Winning bid was EUR 11.061, equivalent to £8.800, or $13.700.
