Edison Spring Motor/Triumph Questionnaire

Oh, you guys are great! I'm loving all this data - especially the Spring Motors up to the introduction of the Triumphs. I think that point is where numbering may have changed - we'll see (I hope). And the information on Triumphs (including patent dates) will be a big help to check accuracy.

Bob, I second Steve's request for a photo of that mandrel. I've seen rubber mandrels on some Edison coin-ops; do you think it's possibly one of those?

I didn't foresee our age being an impediment to this research! Should have done this years ago, I guess...

The composite mandrels I have seen are on the Edison Bell Electric which was the UK's version of the Class M. Only problem is the mandrel shaft on this machine did not have a feed screw on it and it looks shorter than the Class M mandrel shaft. Can't wait to see the picture!!

George , posted pics of mandrel,I don't think the machine was ever a coin-op,or part of one, The mandrel has a layer of what looks like wax paper,but I think it is some other material, It has a normal feed screw and half nut and bar. Still have not got the triumph info to you, Bob Smock

Thanks for the photos, Bob. I've never seen a mandrel like that. Could be possibly be plaster? Very interesting!
