Just out of curiosity, how much were they asking for the Fairy Phonograph Lamp? That has always been my dream "foo-foo" phonograph.

I'm sorry to say I didn't ask........ It looked like a great example but much as I like it I have no place for one so I simply admired it and moved on. Now I wish I'd asked just to have some clue what these are going for.

On the strength of those pictures, I myself would have gone for the coin-operated Zonophone. It's a Hen's Teeth item and unlike everything else in those pictures, you won't see another one anytime soon. Someone has got discerning taste, Rene. Well done!

I think most people attending a show base their opinion on their personal experience. For me, APS was terrific. Stan and I sold almost everything we purchased on the way to the show as well as many things we already planned to offer for sale. In addition, I was able to bring home a Vic VI with an all brass 24-B horn. I've wanted that horn for many years. APS is a very visitor friendly show as well as being a vacation destination for those not bit by the phono bug. We had a great time. Jerry Blais

No question, finding (or selling) great machines is a big part of the fun of these shows. But for me, the most important part is simply getting together with old friends and sharing good times. I spent time with friends from Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, and southern California, people I don't see regularly and whom I really enjoy talking with. The thrill of the hunt is secondary, not that it isn't important. I love seeing interesting machines, even if I'm not in the market. And I love listening about other collectors' experiences.

From this trip I also carry memories of a great conversation with Jerry B. about his father's service in WWII as a B-24 pilot. These are the kind of connections that make this hobby so much fun.

A Victor the 6th with the 24-B horn is one of my favorites too. Especially when sitting upon the matching gold columned record cabinet.
