Good questions. Union was a two day show while the APS Expo in California, Wayne in New Jersey, and Orlando in Florida are one day shows. But there is a setup day or some time before the official day of the show. Most shows charge a somewhat higher fee to attend during setup. But in my opinion it's worth every penny. That's generally when the good stuff trades hands so that's when I want to be there. In California Saturday is setup and the show is officially on Sunday. The doors open for dealers at 10am Saturday with early buyers only fifteen minutes later. But people gather to sell in the parking lot much earlier. Last year I arrived at 7:45 and there were many people in the parking lot and I felt a little late.
I think most people stay at nearby motels. At Union there's a KOA campground next door and it was fine. The first time I attended Union I felt like a little fish in a big pond. Over time Union and other shows transitioned from just a sale to more of a social event and a sale. I think friends are really important at any show. It's always helpful to bounce ideas off someone else. I've collected for many years but I'm certainly no expert on everything. I frequently ask questions of others to get their options and perspectives on a possible purchase. Union is history with many good memories but I am looking forward to the Midwest APS Expo and all that it potentially has to offer.

APS will be involved with a Midwest and California show. I propose the labels to be the MAPS Expo (Midwest) and CAPS Expo (California).
I hope to see you at a show.
