I just read all of the previous posts in this thread and mostly agree with everyone here. Don't care much for Glenn Miller or Vaughn Monroe but love Benny Goodman. I like "Good Night Irene" but other than leadbelly (Who wrote it) I don't know who I would prefer singing it. I also love Mac and Annie's "My Grandfather's Clock", very straight forward clawhammer Banjo, Guitar and singing but it only exists in a shortened version on YouTube. As far as Christmas goes, I love "Silver Bells" and "I'll Be Home For Christmas" very sentimental to me, both bring tears to my eyes for the loss of the early days of my life.Sadly, I was happier with my Mom, Dad and Brother Tom than I am with my own children but that happened when I lost my innocence. And lastly, I love some of the Andrews sisters as in "I can dream" and "Bei Mir Mr. Schon". But you all are pretty spot on.

He was definitely an icon of that era.

Not enough personality to despise, or just plain innocuous.
File those in the "Ho-hum aren't 78's boring sometimes" department.

Personally, most songs recorded by Billy Murray are as boring as a baseball game played by cripples. They're so bland, boring, and awful. It's like if somebody put Al Jolson, T-Pain, Milli Vanilli, and any random chainsmoker, concentrated the worst elements of their voice, and put them in a vocal blender, and then recorded it on a primitive recording technology. Oh yeah, and most coon songs. They fit in the same category as Billy Murray.
My !Quote what ever you may not like or despise some may like such as my self I alway6s Liked Billy Murray as well as Uncle Josh Weathersby Cal steward
