I drive a Toyota Tundra with a matching camper top which does the job pretty well. I can get a VV-XVI in the backseat with no problems should I need the extra room and trust me, I have. My Wife had a 97 4Runner that we loaded up 331,000 miles driving all over picking up machines in. She now has a Prius Sport that we can still load up if need be, but if more room is needed for those big hauls, I have a 6X10 and a 7X16 enclosed trailer just incase.

The hubs has been wanting a Ford Transit since it came out. I am inclined to let him despite all my groans about how ugly it is. haha.

Re: What do you drive?
I drive a ¾ ton GMC with the Durimax diesel. The four doors allows me to take three additional phono nerds to Union with me. It will pull any size trailer to Union and back. When I pull a small utility trailer, like the one in the photo, I get about 13mpg for the complete trip from Oregon to Union and back. In comparison, my last large pickup with a gas engine got around 8mpg pulling the same trailer for the Union trip. When I travel without a trailer, it gets close to 20 mpg. If I were buying a car, I would look at a Subaru Outback. I like the idea of all wheel drive and enough room to haul any big upright. Jerry Blais

Re: What do you drive?
Years ago I drove a 1981 VW Rabbit with a 35 hp diesel motor. I took the back seat out and loaded an "L" door Victrola and about five smaller horn machines and drove from Albany, OR to the CAPS sale, about 950 miles each way. I sold well and someone offered me $50 to take an advertising piece back to Oregon. I replied that $20 would buy all my diesel back home so that is what I charged. It must have been about 1985 and diesel was cheap. It went about 45 mph over the Grape Vine and about 70 mph on the way down. It got 48 mpg if you drove it hard and just of 50 mpg if it was babied it. Jerry Blais

1.4 liter turbo diesel Škoda Fabia "SUV". I think it would fit in the back of Jerry's trailer.

Jerry, you are well prepared. No wonder you can offer to bring everything you see to Union. Haha. I just was trying to think of what would fit an XVI and a VTLA at the same time.....Your set up would definitely do it

OMG, look at how much your kids have grown! I'm guessing you're not going to get them to volunteer for your darling Christmas by the phonograph videos much longer...Valecnik wrote:1.4 liter turbo diesel Škoda Fabia "SUV". I think it would fit in the back of Jerry's trailer.

Probably not. It won't be long before that's not "cool" for them, don't want to be seen with mom and dad, those years... Ugh got all that to go thru yet.Tinkerbell wrote:OMG, look at how much your kids have grown! Re: What do you drive?
Last winter I drove my '87 VW convertible to Spokane, WA to pick up a half barrel cylinder cabinet. It was snowing when I got there so I parked under cover, took down the top, and carefully placed the cabinet in the back seat and drove home. It was a 900+ mile trip in one day. We do crazy things for good phono stuff. Jerry
