Wonder if there might be some stashes of parts for these in France somewhere.

makes you wonder doesn't it!, im sure there must be some somewhere!, I just need to find the right person!

I wonder more why someone would destroy this beautiful machine in the first place!

Ok, I've found a motor in france, I just need to save for it, ive started taking off the new additions, mainly the wooden strip used to cover the original winding handle

but the lid catch is confusing, I think it has been moved :/, when I first looked at it it had this plate like this, on a different photo of a different machine this catch was round, although this one never was.:

I thought it didn't look right, and sure enough when I removed it, there were two holes:

And also looking at another photo of a Pathéphone no.12 the springed button part of the catch was where my finger is, there is a hole there so I presume that this has been moved.

Having then moved the button this does not line up with the second hole hidden under the plate and the plate does not fit over the 2nd hole, which is making me wonder if this plate was original or if It was different, if the button is original etc.

The more I find the more confusing it is getting!

Kirtley, If you haven't sent an email to a man in France....Jalal Aro, you may wish to. He may be able to provide you with valuable info on your machine & questions you have. A very beautiful machine and once brought back......WOW!!!... :).
