Who started 'the missing door' conspiracy? :D The thing was in pieces but they all seem to be there. A lot of the screw holes were stripped (doors, lid) and had to be repaired before final assembly. The lid support was initially thought to be missing but was found inside the case (bent severely). The casters are damaged and missing so I took them off.

The door and lid were missing on the first posted pictures, but glad they were there. Wish I could stumble across some "garbage" like that!

Victor had two dark oak finishes that look almost identical: Early English, and Weathered. I believe that both started out fumed (that is, exposed to ammonia fumes) and were then stained dark. The difference between the two is that the Weathered finish is dull and the Early English is glossy. If you can find an undamage area, perhaps the underside of the lid or back of a door, then you will know what to call it (in the unlikely event anyone asks :P )

Here she is put back together. Motor runs nicely. I cheated on the knobs - I didn't want to touch the finish so I painted them (easily removed). Same with the crank and hinge but rest is original.

You did a wonderful job saving this one. Looks great. I still want to know how you cleaned it and brought the finish back?

Super job! What a gorgeous machine! You really performed a miracle with that woodwork.

Stunning. It would be fun if you could show it to whoever threw it out. :)

That's a beautiful machine, great looking decal under the lid. I agree with Brad, would be nice to see what the person that threw it out would think if they could see the machine now. Although, probably some dumb kid that has no clue or does not care to know what a Victrola is. Especially these ipod kids.
