Just received Accessories and Contraptions as well as Phonographica. The latter book is like champagne for a paper ephemera nut such as myself. Accessories has a section concerning experimental soundboxes from the Victor research department that is almosy worh the price of the book alone. Can you tell I was pleased?

Bringing those same two books home with me yesterday was second only to the visit with George at his home. Seeing and discussing some of the machines and artifact in his books first hand is a rare and fortunate experience, as is sitting at that very oak pedestal table in the picture of his first post in this thread, next to three very beautiful Zon-O-PhonesLenoirstreetguy wrote:Just received Accessories and Contraptions as well as Phonographica. The Mobley "lesson" was very interesting, as was our discussion of the V Concert soundboxes...not to mention the Concert prototype...amazing.

I look forward to my next two purchases; "Antique Phonograph Gadgets, Gizmos, and Gimmicks" and, "Antique Phonograph Advertising: An Illustrated History". I know they will be as impressive as all the rest!
My sincere "thanks", once again, George!

Thanks to my two latest customers!
Just for general information, you can buy an unsigned copy of any of our books for five bucks extra cost!
Okay - that's a joke...but I'll happily inscribe any message you'd like...or leave it unmarked!
Stock up now for your St. Patrick's day gift-giving!
Lenoir Street Guy's comment about the Victor experimental sound boxes shown in Contraptions reminds me of the background story on them. Around 1985, after the old Victor buildings had been purchased by a large corporation, it was decided to "clean house." At least one lucky collector got wind of this, and pulled all sorts of treasures from dumpsters outside the buildings, including the experimental/prototype sound boxes pictured. Rescued from the brink...

I just finished reading "Antique Phonograph: Gadgets, Gizmos, and Gimmicks" last night...awesome book! I have to admit, I had the book in one hand and eBay in the other for a good portion of it, the goodies I want in these books are endless! Looking forward to starting the next one this evening.

I couldn't agree more, my small collection has doubled since reading, "The Talking Machine, An Illustrated Compendium 1877-1929, 2nd. Edition" and will continue to grow. These books have given me the ability to assess machines that I see and make intelligent choices when buying.HisMastersVoice wrote:I just finished reading "Antique Phonograph: Gadgets, Gizmos, and Gimmicks" last night...awesome book! Actually, that quote is from Allen Koenigsberg, and I can't improve upon it!fran604g wrote:

Well, in that case, "Thank you, Allen" in absentia.

For those of you who may be interested, I can deliver any of the Fabrizio/Paul books to the Union show, thus saving you postage costs. As I learned this past winter, this would be a substantial savings for our long-suffering Canadian brethren.
If you are interested in any of our eight titles (described at the beginning of this thread) for delivery at Union (or any future Wayne shows for that matter), please let me know in plenty of time so I may order depleted titles from the publisher if necessary.
Thanks for your consideration!

I for one am amazed at how many members on here don't have any books on hand. Over 85% of the questions asked on our forum can be "self" answered simply by owning just one of the many books available by George & Tim......
.
The other "essentials" are any of Baumbach"s books such as....."Look For The Dog & the "Data Book".
Along with Reiss' "The Compleat Talking Machine".
Hazelcorn's books on the Graphophone.
Etc............
