That's neat Bill, I have a VV-XVI that was sold in Buffalo and the building is still there, it's nice to have that connection!
Data entered, thank you!

Hi Cody K, could you check and see if the words "Diamond Disc" precede the above text you supplied me with?
Thank you,

Hi again, folks!
I want to thank everyone for helping out and thought I should repost the first page for newcomers to acquaint themselves with this project.
Please be as PRECISE and SPECIFIC as possible. I'm seeing too many variations in the wording of the Medallion, in particular.
Thanks again,
Fran
fran604g wrote:Hi folks,
I need your help in compiling a spreadsheet as I explained in an earlier post here:
http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... 038#p98038
It is my intention to compile as much data as I can find to establish, exactly or as closely as I can, when significant production changes were made to the C250 and C19 Diamond Disc Phonographs over their lifetimes. Once compiled, I feel that I should be able to demonstrate a chronological history of these changes and, hopefully, identify precisely when these changes were implemented by Thomas A. Edison Inc., from a serialization standpoint and when.
This is a large undertaking and, admittedly, I am a bit daunted, but I shall do my best.
The following are particular features and characteristics that I am looking for:
1.
Model Designation: (C-250 or C-19)
2.
Serial Number:
3.
Bedplate Pinstriping: Y/N
4.
"Official Laboratory" Medallion: Round/Pentagonal/None
5.
Exact Wording of the Medallion: Please be precise (Abbreviated signature, for example)
6.
Record Storage: Drawers or Shelves?
7.
Cabinet Wood Type: Mahogany or Oak?
8.
Duncan Stop?: Y/N
9.
Dealer Tag: Name/Address, Location On Machine
10.
Original Dated Sales Receipt/Shipping Documentation, etc. (Dates are particularly noteworthy):
11.
Grille cloth? Color?
Your participation and comments are truly appreciated, thank you,
Fran

Oops, sorry Fran, "Diamond Disc" is indeed on the medallion. That's what I get posting too early on a Sunday morning -- sorry.
By the way, 52089 and De Soto Frank both have noted that their record shelves each are labelled 1-36, while mine are labelled 1-36 and 37-72. I don't know if this is a very important distinction, but thought I'd point it out in case you felt it was worth adding to the survey.
Thanks for taking on this database project! I imagine it could become quite a lot of work, but I'm sure it will be useful to many collectors.

Thanks, Cody! I noted your storage labels, they are the first that have been observed so far.
At only 25 "New Edisons" so far, I hope many more will contribute.
Best,
Fran
