Wow that gun metal dance reproducer is really neat, I'll have to keep my eye out for one.

Thanks for pics and video! Gun metal is really impressive. As for playing performance, I don't find extra weight create more volume somehow For Dance, do you actually load the upper spring to the diaphragm? what's the difference by not doing so? It's annoying.

The Dance reproducer needs both springs to keep the diaphragm from warping. If those have a good diaphragm and are re-built correctly they are quite loud, but the extra weight is very hard on the records. Especially on loud passages, but you could go get another record in those days so it could be a problem, but not like it would be today. And I would guess the records usually lasted long enough that it wasn't usually an issue. I've always had good luck with the standard reproducer and saw an Edisonic wipe out a record once, so I was pretty much cured from wanting to use one anyway.
