I have a 230E in circassian walnut, fair shape with the lid veneer being the roughest. the electric motor I was told when I purchased it---years ago was noisy, so I picked-up a spare but never put it in or tried playing it. When you do lift the lid---Wow. It sleeps in the basement with other Victor family members, junk on top of it, waiting it's turn to be cleaned off.

Several late Victors used this same horn, including the 330 estott is referring to with the curved lid. It's louder than something like an x or XI, for sure.Henry wrote:i'm guessing that the 230 is one of the, if not the, best-sounding non-Ortho acoustic machines Victor made, given the "fat" tone arm with no. 2 sound box, and the huge horn opening.
