My great-grandfather played the banjo years ago.

I really enjoy banjo records. I would not mind having a discography of early banjo recordings on cylinder and early disc, it would help in knowing which records to collect.

Whoa. That would be some stout discography.

Despite it's sometimes maligned reputation, the banjo has a long and rich history in American music.

I luckily found 'The Banjo On Record' (over 500 pages) some years ago....

As for playing a banjo, I play a Fred Van Eps model very VERY badly, and only when nobody else can hear! hehe

I play the Banjo and Guitar. You should learn the guitar first. Banjo is tough to learn.
