Well done Paal. I'd forgotten that this recording was so good and clear. I have it somewhere but have not played it in a long time. Sometimes one forgets and it takes something like your video to remind of how good something is!

Thank you Bruce! This record is very good and clear. But I believe it has something to do with the recording technique (of course) but also the strong and clear voice of Frank C. Stanley that make the record so good.

Do you think the technical excellence of these recordings is why they were selected to be 'Special' Amberols and Blue Amberols? I realize that they were part of the promotion of 4-min conversion kits.

John, In my opinion most all of the early blue amberols sound very good. Although I suppose they could have selected some of "the best of the best" recordings to put on the special series, I'd bet the specials were just recordings that happened to be available and popular at the time

The "Special" BA titles were the same as previously used for the Special Amberols in 1910, but were they re-recorded for release on celluloid, or were the same takes/moulds used to produce them?

I think they used the same takes/moulds from the Wax Amberols to produce new records on celluloid as Frank C. Stanley wouldn't be alive to re-record "Tramp! Tramp! Tramp!" on BA in 1912. I know that a lot of old Wax Amberol moulds were used for the improved BA's in the regular series. I'm not sure if they did this with the "Special" series, but I believe that they would do the same on the "Special" series as on the regular series.

The C-250 is much too heavy to move outdoors, but I'm sure it would sound fantastic. It would certainly be louder than an Amberola 30. And if you have an Edisonic in the machine, the whole neighborhood would be dancing to Golden Gate Orchestra records!
