After cleaning the motor, I installed a new spring, and she now runs like a top.
I used shellac to attach original felt from a donor 12" Victor turntable that had a needle run at the 10" line.
It worked perfectly, and makes it look like the worn felt was original to the machine.
I'm debating what to do with the original horn, as there are some old repairs which would be hard to hide.
I may just donate one of my original black and brass horns, as this would have been an original option.

Wow! - I think the "Whole family" in the VTM ad just gave you a standing ovation!
Well done my good man! I am impressed!!

I cleaned up the horn with Go-Jo, and straightened the dents to the best of my ability.
I used my daughters paint supplies to carefully touch up the soldered repair and any obvious scratches.
Lastly, I gave the horn a coat of clear paste wax.

FINISHED!
When I took on this project, my goal was to restore this machine for display and demonstration.
My intention was not to make the machine look new, but to make it look like it had been lovingly cared for and handed down.
To this end, I feel that I have succeeded.
I hope that you have enjoyed my descriptions and pics.
I have included some side by side before and after pics.
Cheers, Bob S.
