Sure, post a picture. I'd love to see the modifications done on these odd spindle client machines.

Yes, I have a United Symphony that had the odd spindle removed and a ¼" center post screwed into a threaded hole in the motor shaft. Not as elegant as this modification, because it completely removed the odd United spindle and I had to find a replacement turntable to return it to original. I can post a pic if you're interested.

Larry, It's just like mine. What does the grill look like? Is it like mine or a different variant. I'm glad to see another one of these out there.

Harvey here's a picture of my late Aretino. It looks to be the same as yours. The large spindle is part of or attached to the turn table, it does not come off. In this case there is no modification to the spindle.

Thanks for the shot. I noticed that the edge of your turntable is different than mine. Yours has a rounded edge, and mine has a straight edge. This is really interesting.

Here are some pictures of my United Symphony turntable modifications. Unfortunately they did not leave enough of the large spindle to make it usable for both United and regular records. I found a correct turntable, but kept the modified parts with the machine.

The large spindle has been removed and a small spindle added to the main shaft.

A hole has been drilled and taped into the main shaft. After removing the large spindle the turntable would still sit on the conical top of the main shaft. The small spindle screws into the top of the main shaft.

The modified turntable is not a total loss. If you have some of these odd spindle client machines, You can use this turntable to play your regular 78s. There is Justin Schaub, of JAS Antiques who makes a reproduction turntable with a regular spindle. This is used to play regular 78s on these machines.
