I recall reading reports of the time the Columbia Viva Tonal's introduction had some critics saying that they favored the sound of the Columbia over the Victor version. I think the Viva Tonal has a somewhat more solid sound in some way.. It is a more directional sound since the horns open sideways instead of up and down like Victor. Being seated out front is a large improvement over standing or being far to the sides of it. It seems to also have a optimal distance the sound is at its best, which is somewhere around 15 feet from the horn. That is my opinion, others may differ of course.
