I've seen that fox logo somewhere before but cant place it,dont even know if I saw it on a phono or something else.Its right there put I cant bring it to the front of my mind.If its as sturdy as it looks I cant imagine it being a real generic slap on your own label type machine.Look at the motor board and surrounding wood,they are mismatched grains glued together which initially made me think they made it from scraps but they took the time to glue the three pieces together and then cut the motor board out of the center. So they either made a lovely case and fell short only on the motor board spending extra cheap labor to cut it out or the went for an interesting look with the different grains on purpose.The rest of the case is so nice including the grain under the lid making me think they put extra effort in the machine. Lovely looking machine you have there!!

Here is my FOX PHONOGRAPH up and running playing a low volume and fidelity acoustically recorded Mamie Smith "Crazy Blues" Okeh 78rpm record. Notice hoe the lid somewhat resembles a Victrola VV 90 lid shape, maybe that is a clue to finding the manufacturer?

An interesting thing with the logo is the shape of the letters "The" which look very much like Sanskrit.

I must admit I've been think of doing the same with 1 or 2 machines I've got downstairs. Those little casters are great on carpet & when a machines not moved very far or very often, but they just dont cut it when you're on concrete & have to move them around to work on etc.
It's obviously a good quality machine, which kind of makes me wonder why there seems to be no information around about them. Unless of course they were so expensive that the company went bust in a short amount of time.
Do the soundbox & motor appear to be manufactured by Fox, or generic types bought in by the company?

Shane, know way of knowing about the double barrel spring motor or the reproducer, no info found anywhere on them when a new spring had to be put in and the new gaskets replaced in the reproducer, no numbers, nothing. The motor has horizontal barrels. Beside the Logo, with no address the only ID thing was the seriel number and model number on the metal plate inside the small front wall above the motor board, and that was upsidedown. Strange.
Yes, the casters were the only pieces missing when purchased, and I opted for putting these larger ones on, I think, no idea of what was original, but these are for easy roll.

I'm pretty certain I've seen that cabinet with other names on it, so I think FOX was the name of a retailer. In any case it's a nice machine and the quality of the oak raises it up considerably over the average off-brand machine- it wouldn't be nearly as nice in mahogany.

That is a very minty machine, and I second the motion that it has a very nice build quality
and cabinet. Nice video!

Compare your Fox Phonograph with the Mandel illustrated in these photos which toward appear toward the bottom of the post string, especially the grille, tonearm, motor-board, and mfg's plate.
