Yup- an unannounced eBay fee hike. They are slimeballs.

Are you guys in the UK also headed for "Managed Payments" with Ayden? If so, there's another litte surprise lurking... sellers will be charged 25c per item, as opposed to the current PayPal 30c per transaction. So, as a record seller, if I sell 15 records to the same buyer that's 25c a record rather than .30c total for the transaction as it currently stands.

Bastards.

Soundgen says he paid 10% to Michigan? That is not the Michigan sales tax (6%). Is that someone else's tax?

Looking up the internet, Washington has a sales tax of 6.5 %. Could that be what you've been charged?

Finally, out of curiosity, what tax are you paying for bringing something into Canada?
I was charged 6% which is the sales tax in Michigan

I think part of the problem here is that folks are getting taxes, duties and commissions all mixed up. And Wayne is correct, the best way to resolve a specific question is to call eBay and inquire.

Since October 2019, I have been charged sales tax on ebay purchases (including shipping). The amount charged is the total sales tax for my area including state (6.25%) plus county (0.5%) plus city (1.5%) for a total of 8.25%. Just quoting the state sales tax rate is not always sufficient depending on whether local taxes are also collected.
