Best free boxes for storing 78's?

The Staples box looks real good. Made from "100% polypropylene," which is considered inert and archival (food grade material). It's recycle number 5 (PP). Something to consider: weight when full of records!

Right now that box in the picture has 38 records in it with room for at least 20 more ... the cardboard designated 78 record holding boxes claim "Holds 50-65 78rpm records" ... so comparable. Right now [at 38] its not terribly heavy at all so another 20 or so would make it a bit on the heavy side ... not very scientific I know. But I guess, think of the weight of 60 78's plus a few grams [the box is very, very light].

I also tried the pizza box idea, but soon realized it made 'flipping' through records a bit unwieldy to say the least ... but on the other hand I wasn't looking for a first sort, inexpensive way to deal with thousands of 78's. Hanging file folders seem to do nicely for my paltry collection.

PS - forgot to mention, they are designed to stack and do so very nicely.

Guessing they get pretty heavy when full!

I just put 10 78's on the bathroom scale and it was 5 pounds so 60 would be in the neighbourhood of 30 pounds +/- ... a couple more for the case and the hanging files ... so maybe 40 pounds tops.

Not light, but not crazy heavy either.
