Well, those were different days. Bicycle hunting has since been banned: the few surviving high-wheelers are now a protected species... :P

Since they aren't actually his grandfather, I think he should be extremely unhappy with his purchase... although they are still interesting pics of some unknown person.

The 1890s was a different time, for sure... it's a good thing that bicycle hunting has been banned, it was getting out of hand.

Oxford English Dictionary's definitions of irony is "a figure of speech in which the intended meaning is the opposite of that expressed by the words used".

Sorry, Soundgen... I didn't pick up on the "irony" or sarcasm... Sometimes it's hard to interpret when reading posts as opposed to real conversation...

Irony or sarcasm are usually "disguised" in statements that sound true, but are meant in a different or joking manner opposite of what's actually said. They are somewhat hard to see in internet posts and for some people they are hard to discern in conversation. I have always used this is conversations, especially with my mother when she was alive... she was always way too serious. As far as Americans and the Simpsons, I can't relate to that, I hate them (the Simpsons). I was always a big fan of Monty Python and British humor...
