That straight toothed piece seems like it would be relatively easy to duplicate, especially if you have that original for a pattern. If you don't have it, it would still be an easy piece to make. If you can take a high quality photo of that piece straight down from the top, you can probably make a template of the sliding part and the toothed part. I think finding one loose is a needle in a haystack search, but I might be wrong... Check with George Vollema and send him those pics...

A good start would be finding some rack gear stock. You can buy it as a catalog item, but would most likely have to cut the length you need and do other modifications, then make and attach the rack to the sliding portion. Knowing the correct gear pitch will be key. It's nearly certain to be a 14.5 degree pressure angle gear, just gotta know the pitch.

Is the motor on the Jacobean mounted on over the horn in the cabinet as on my Chippendale? I clearly don’t know the trick to getting it right, but I have yet to engage both the motor meter pin and the speed control when trying to drop the motorboard back in place.

No, Bill. The mounting block for the motor sits on the base of the cabinet and the horn curves around it to the left.

Yes, that’s what I meant. Sorry if it was unclear, but I was referring to the fact that the motor remains in the machine when the board with the speed control and brake is removed rather than being hung from it.

Correct. But I've not tried to do that just yet. Motors are both out and being worked on. I guess I'll figure out that hookup when it's time to reassemble them. If you come up with any clues, let me know!
