I'm going to assume that you will clean and polish the tonearm back to shiny nickel, as well as clean and polish the rest of the hardware. For me that is the same as polishing the horn. I am sure it would look amazing. But at the same time you can wait with the horn and see how you like the tarnished horn on the clean machine. If you don't like it you can still polish it later.

In regards to cleaning, Gojo and similar cleaners won't do much aside from removing actual dirt. On the photo it looks as if there is not only patina (= darkened brass), but also green oxidation spots on the horn. These will cause actual damage if not treated and removed, but this again means polishing it afterwards or will will have bright spots. To me there is no way to properly preserve it without polishing it afterwards. But take your time and see how you feel after a while. In any case it is a beautiful machine.
