I finally got around to working on the 3 spring motor with the external speed indicator and got it running great. New leather on the speed control and speed indicator arm helped. I also adjusted the location of the governor further forward and that helped alot I also bent the tail on the speed control limit so it let the governor spin faster. It runs great now, perfect. The speed control now can adjust from to slow to to fast where before it was from to slow to almost fast enough. The speed indicator seems to be pretty accurate now. By moving the governor forward, it helped eliminate the excess drag the speed indicator was causing. These motors take alot more adjusting to setup just right but once done work as well as any others.

Yes! I only have two of the sloped governor type, a single spring and a double spring, and both were a nightmare! Let's take apart the bigger motors!
Later motors at least had the grooved governor bearing, so you know where the governor must be placed...
Nevertheless, the Burton motors are much easier to overhaul. They are a marvel!
