It is true, the sound as absolutely amazing. I overpaid for mine and have zero regrets. I think mine has a serial number in the high 4000s. Can post pics if useful!
I always enjoy seeing pictures, useful or not.

I borrowed my Credenza’s reproducer just to check out the tone and volume. I comes close to the Credenza.

I think this looks like gold flake paint like all the others.

Well, I'm not qualified to argue the point. I hadn't heard of gold flake paint until this thread. What I do know, is that it's definitely not antique bronze, which was the reason for my first post.

The gold paint may have also been used on the portables. I have no experience with the suitcase models.
It does look like the brake was also the same gold paint on yours and I must have swapped the one on mine.
The flashy 8-9 cabinets needed the gold color but the gold plating process for one model was not worth it.

Here’s mine: sounds absolutely amazing! I love the green against the dark wood. Again, I probably overpaid and don’t care! The sound is awesome!

I might be a victim of brain fog. This would, of course, be the first time ever.

Like I said, mine is long gone, but I thought quite strongly that I remembered it having the burnished bronze (or whatever it’s actually called) finish on the hardware.

But then I realized I’m possibly confusing it with the 8-8, which is essentially the same machine - only different. See attached photo.

But if I’m totally wrong on the 8-9, at least it prodded an interesting discussion. The grain of sand produces the pearl, as it were.

FWIW, my 8-9, serial number 700, has painted gold finish on the hardware. Also has "burnt orange" color felt, versus leatherette, on the turntable.

The OP's recent find is awesome! I got mine through Craigslist years ago. Love it!
