I agree with you completely on 8 out of your 10. I haven't heard the Trumbauer or Al Bowley's Midnight The Stars And You, but I'll bet both are great. I might have to cut some of the Motens...I forgot about Potato Head Blues. I just hope I never have to make a choice like that.

Thanks so much for posting those two songs. So different but so wonderful. I've never heard an Al Bowlly vocal that I didn't like. He was one of the very greatest if not the greatest sweet band singer of all time. And Love Affair, what can I say...Bix, Tram, Lang et al. Great discs all and so many of them. How could one ever choose?

As for the Louis Armstrong recording, it is indeed a Decca recording. He made recordings for both Columbia and Decca in early 50s as far as I know.

Starkton, you really have lots of interesting recordings on your D.I.D wishing lists - do you have all of them? I wish I could have a Medea Mei-Figner on my hands, but it seems a impossible dream for me. (Although I have few Nikolai Figner G&Ts)....and I always wanted to hear Gustav Walter but never succeeded.

I only chose records from my collection. The Mei-Figner in excellent condition (original early 1902 issue with large flush label, blank on back) came to me in exchange for a film music disc from the early 1940s on Polydor. As I don't have an electronic turntable I cannot copy the Walter disc for you. It was however reissued as part of the Harold Wayne collection (Vol. 6) in 1994 on Symposium.

I only have 1 Figner in near mint (Les Huguenots: Raoul’s romance, G&T 22594, 1901, flush label, 1st stamper, mid-1902 issue with writing angel on back). Sidenote: I got it almost 10 years ago from a South American collector/pianist/conductor who was murdered soon after during a robbery.
