Very interesting machine. But my response goes to your 1500-mile trek to Italy. Back in the 1990s I travelled frequently to Italy to a little town called Assergi at the base of the Gran Sasso mountain and not too far from L'Aquila, where there was an earthquake a few years ago. I have fond memories of those days. Anyway, phonograph aside, I would gladly have taken that journey as an end in itself.

@John: the drive through northern France and Switzerland was just gorgeous. Across Switzerland it was difficult to concentrate on the road at times because of the beautiful scenery everywhere! Just beautiful.
@Garret: It very much found me. When it came up for sale, a local friend sent me its details and I couldn't resist - it would be rude to say no!
