That would be great but I don't hold out much hope of that to be honestemgcr wrote: Fri Jul 28, 2023 3:07 am Thank you David and Raphael---greatly appreciated. Is there now a chance of finding a way to retrieve all our lost photographs please ?

Thanks very much Mordeth ! It will be great to have you around more again and what Raphael says about possible future changes sounds interesting !MordEth wrote: Thu Jul 27, 2023 7:27 pm The certificate should have auto-renewed today but it did not. After talking to Raphael, I put in a support ticket with Dreamhost and just heard back with the resolution.
I have been quite busy with work and other projects, and have not looked in very often. However, anyone who would like my phone number is welcome to either get it from Raphael or PM me.
Hopefully, things will get less hectic next month and I’ll try to be more present.
Happy days always !

Thanks Raphael ! Another happy ending and very interesting about possible future improvements !Raphael wrote: Thu Jul 27, 2023 6:38 pm I was fortunate to have had some private communication with David a few years ago, and he gave me his cell # at that time. Luckily I remembered that and dug it out of my email files. He was unaware of the problem, admitting that he hasn't even looked at the Forum in ages. Anyway we worked out the problem, and he the solution, while on the phone and our computers together and the end result was successful renewal of an expired certificate, which was blocked by various browsers.
We also had a nice discussion about improving the TMF, etc., and it may lead to some positive improvements in the near future.

Being digitally illiterate I panicked when a red warning "Your connection is not private" came up yesterday.
Trying again this morning I was relieved to see the forum up and running again. Thank you David and Raphael.

Thanks both Rafael and David for restoring the forum. This incident serves as an alert that we need active management of the forum. Maybe in different terms from the cooperative way we have today, and moving to an association able to provide remuneration to the management that would be responsible to keep the forum up and running.

Re: Forum has expired certificate
It's great to see this Forum is still alive and well thanks to some proactive members mentioned earlier. Maybe I am easily confused...
But, I could have sworn that I saw some posts a few months back that alluded to the fact that this forum wouldn't be around much longer..... and everybody should immediately join the "other" forum....
There is no sarcasm intended - I like the APS forum! Maybe I am not remembering the conversations and posts accurately. Any way, glad to hear things are going well here! Everyone try and stay cool, calling for some HOT weather today and tomorrow depending on where you are in the United States.
And, keep those phonographs away from the windows with direct sunlight....

Re: Forum has expired certificate
The TMF is not perfect, nor is anything in life that I am aware of. It is a tool that must be used with acknowledgement of its limitations and risks.
That being said, this is a reminder that the best way to ensure the continuation of the TMF, and improving it, is within the powers of the very people that use it frequently. You will see a “DONATE” button at the bottom of the screen. Use it, and keep in mind that whatever you contribute will help keeping David (“Mordeth”) in the business of keeping the TMF alive and well.
Many people here have contributed, some on at least an annual basis. But the vast majority seem to be taking a free ride. That might be all well and good for the status quo, but not in the long run.

I thought the same thing. There's also a lot of people who need their membership confirmed.emgcr wrote: Fri Jul 28, 2023 3:07 am Thank you David and Raphael---greatly appreciated. Is there now a chance of finding a way to retrieve all our lost photographs please ?
