I'm going to throw my 2 cents in here...While, yes, it would be nice if the archives section was updated regularly, sadly, it's not. But things could be much worse. We don't have the verbal abuse flying around, whether that is a result of just more civil persons being here than on the prior board, or whether it is moderation, I don't know. But I can't say I've seen too much B.S. here. Also, the odd piece of spam seems to get culled regularly, so I'm guessing there is some level of oversight going on. Sure, there are posts that can be probably be put in the sales sub-board, but for the most part the ones that get on the Machines board are people pointing out someone else's machine they saw on Craig's list rather than something they are personally selling, so I'd say that was a personal judgment that I could see going either way. Kinda like putting this thread under machines rather than the board tech sub board  Plus, many of those posts actually spur a discussion about the machine, its value, rarity, etc., that the posts in the sale board do not. So in the end it serves a purpose under the machine board.

As for further splitting things up...not a fan. Our counterpart that established itself on pro-boards after the armageddon of phono boards went down it think is a bit muddled due to a few too many sub boards. The more you split things up, the more likely you have a dead zone that folks just won't visit. I believe a more general board will have more eyes going over a post, and increase the conversation. I think I'm more likely to look at a single post on the general board that isn't my normal cup of tea, than specifically look to a sub board that normally doesn't tickle my fancy. I guess that makes me a vote for the status quo, at least design wise.

Well put Zeppy.

I enjoy the serendipity of this board. I find myself seeing cool things here that I might not have sought out on my own if there were more categories. Sure, there are things that sometimes bore or annoy me, but I simply tune them out and move on. All-in-all it's pretty good free entertainment.

Best to all,

-Martin
