I am sure the felt was added by a previous owner and was not there originally.

Re: EDISON A-85 disc gramophone
Are there any letters marked on the reproducer holder, like an "L" & an "S"?
I'm sure I've seen a similar holder before, on a machine that was converted to longplay. One space was for the standard reproducer & the other held the LP reproducer.
If it is an original Edison accessory, it's probably a pretty rare & desirable item, and you'd more than likely get a substancial amount for it on ebay.

Wow that machine is awesome, I have the B-19, and I really like yours better than the B-19, which looks so gaudy.

I've seen a few of these in Australia. Atleast 6 or so that I can think of. While not common here, they are not rare either and you would get one eventually.
I had one with the sn 850. They are a nice machine. Far more interesting than a London table model.
cheers

Here's a picture.

There are no markings on it. It is a solid bit of steel.

I think some collector before you put it in the case- it doesn't match, the finish is antique bronze and the machine is gilt. It was only required for long play machines and this one shows no sign of having long play gearing.

I agree. An interesting piece to have and worth some money but not appropriate for this particular machine.estott wrote:I think some collector before you put it in the case- it doesn't match, the finish is antique bronze and the machine is gilt.
