Thanks for posting those Scott. I was told that both long & short handled versions were available, & I was wondering what the original long handle looked like.
The long handle my shaver came with is definately a replacement. The metal rod is over a foot long & of a narrower gauge, and the handle is yellow pine.
I wonder if the long hanle was supplied with shavers like yours, that have the extended base board, and the short handle came with the box version like mine?
There doesn't seem to be many pictures of these 4 min shavers on the net, so it's a bit hard (for me) to judge. The only thing I had to go by is the 2 repro leaflets that I got with the shaver.
Both picture the box version like mine, and show a short handle, so I assume that's what my shaver should have?

This isn't the illustration I was talking about, but here is the shaver taken from the 1st edition of the " Frow Bible" I know I have an image of the original brochure in something, but I can't find it. I thought it was the Edison Phonograph Monthly...which has a write-up about it, but no image. I'll keep searching.

Santa brought me an HMV 102 (from eBay/England, and he looked a bit like a FedEx guy) It's in really nice shape, case just needs some cleaning. Has a #16 sound box which plays beautifully, I did replace the hardened rubber of the flange with silicone (thanks Wyatt for your post, here: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... f=7&t=5812) Speed is perfect and the auto brake has worked on every record I've tried. A wonderful machine and I'm glad I finally took the plunge!

Nice find Shane. I saw one of those shavers years ago at auction here in Melbourne. I was pretty green in collecting those days and wasn't sure what it was. That is the only one I have seen in the flesh.
Santa brought me just before Christmas a serpentine fronted oak cylinder cabinet.
I have wanted one of these for a few years now and bit the bullet and bought this off ebay and brought it out from the America.

AllWoundUp, your carrying handle has the same problem as mine: the leather has dried out beyond repair. New ones are available though via Ebay UK. Replacement is easy and improves the cosmetics enormously. You've got a relatively early one, made between 1932 and 1936. The tray was introduced in '32 and dropped in '36.

Santa brought me an HMV 102c. The motor needed to be re-greased and cleaned. The case is in so-so condition, but the machine sounds great.

I guess maybe it was Santa who reminded a nice lady to call me - we had spoken about 2 months ago, about ads her daughter had placed: one for an "antique Victrola", the other an "ornate Victrola". The blurry pics told me I wanted the ornate one. I had to wait until they returned from a long trip, and even blabbed about it to a local collector. Sure figured it was long gone, when I got a call last Friday & was asked if I could be there the next day. Almost got lost & was late, but I got there & got my 'gift'.

It's a Credenza X, 4 doors, centered turntable, no light, either brown mahogany or walnut... and the brass reproducer in perfect shape. Yay. It was reasonable .... let's just say that I spent less than $200 on it, a tank of gas, and lunch. Now to find an Edison Opera for that price .... Santa, you listening ??

Sigh! I must have been a bad boy. No phono goodies for me this year.

In truth it was a lovely Christmas spent with friends, though.

A few weeks ago, a fellow called me saying he had an Edison Home Shaving Machine for sale. He offered to bring it by, and I naturally encouraged the visit. Everything was there, although the wooden blade handle had broken away from the rod. The fellow left very happy, and I put this thing on my workbench along with the 3 phonographs awaiting restoration.

This afternoon I had a couple of free hours, so I cleaned it up and repaired the handle. Then I thought I should post it along with the others that were posted here a few months ago. I've always kind of wanted one of these...
