Those Indian 78's could possibly date from into the 1960's. Are any of them vinyl?

If one trawled the junk shops in India, I imagine Ravi Shankar 78's to be very common.
No vinyl, all shellac 78s. I'm not 100% sure, but I think most of mine are from earlier in his career, 40s, maybe early 50s.

The labels are all in Hindi, but luckily I was able to have someone translate the titles into English for me.

P.S.- In fact Ian Nogoski will be serving as guest DJ tomorrow night here in Baltimore at the "2640 Space" Club, spinning those international 78s!

Hmmm, he brings his 78's to the club, interesting. I'd think he'd just play them off a laptop or something. Maybe bring a few for show.

My collection is indeed focused on ethnic music. I have 78s from almost all parts of Africa (Mali, Senegal, Canary Islands, Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, DR Congo, Mozambique, South Africa, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Sierra Leone)
some European (Malta, Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Armenia)
some Asian (Sri Lanka, India, Philippines, Japan, Uzbekistan, Iran)
some American (Brazil, Argentina, Peru, USA, Haiti)

All commercial 78s. I have some doubles which I would like to trade for original paper covers to add to my collection.
Anyone interested to trade paper sleeves for some of my 78s, can contact me

Hello,

Each time I visit a new city, I try to find a place to buy records, which is not always easy...

So I decided to create a new section on my blog called "Where to find 78 rpm". This section consists of a list of places and a dynamic map : http://ceintsdebakelite.com/where-to-find-78-rpm/
I just started and added a few places where I found 78 rpm, mainly in my city Paris. But I'd like this map to be useful for everybody : who wants to help me completing my list of shops and markets worlwide ?

Thanks !

Greetings from France !

I have a few Japanese Columbias and a couple of Russian records on the USSR label.

Many Indian pressed HMV's found their way to the UK when their owners returned home, but here is a record which appears to be of genuine Indian origin.

I can tell you nothing about the manufacturer, the title or the artist, but the musical content is better imagined than described!
