It's a keeper and will look great.
One mistake people make when refinishing is over sanding and damaging the molding and carvings. Be very careful, I would not try to get it down to bare wood, I would try to salvage as much of the finish as possible and blend and fill in where needed. Good luck and keep those pictures coming.

Great job so far. You will have achieved quite an accomplishment when it's completed.
Can you tell me if the tonearm has a flange where it meets the backmount or is it straight??
If you could, post a pic of your VV-16 arm removed from the bracket..
This might be the same tonearm that fits a Victor 6...

The tone arm does have a little flange. In the bracket it may look like one from an "L" door or Vic VI but it's a bit different. Jerry

My XVIII has a race with ball bearings in the arm, yes.

Guys, is this the arm I need?

The length is correct and the finish is correct. Victor data book says that mine should have a "tapered, ball bearing, indented tube" tone arm.
Thanks,
Matt

That looks like the later "fat" tonearm. I'm 99.9% certain that is not the correct one for an XVIII. If nobody beats me to it, I'll check the measurements on this against my XVIII when I get home from work.

That is the later arm. The earlier arm has a large threaded plug at the end of the gooseneck instead of the small screw.
