Fran,
Good for you for taking on this project! At last we will have some serial number milestones for when pinstripes were dropped on the C-250, when the model designation changed to C-19, and when the drawers on the C-19 were replaced by shelves. This project will keep you busy! :)

Thank you, George, for your help in getting this started. Your advice and keen eye has been indispensable!

Your Chippendales are #27, 28 and 29. I like how this project is growing so quickly. I hope it continues as rapidly as it began. :)

Talk to you soon,

John
The Duncan Stop was ( I believe ) an early auto-brake that employed an electromagnet and drycell battery to release the spring-loaded turntable brake.

The sliding lever along the front of the bed-plate is the volume control: it operates a Bowden-wire (similar to an automotive choke or throttle able), which moves a stuffed felt ball ( about 3 inches in diameter ) in & out of the mouth of the horn. Some times the ball is missing from the machine.

Thanks De Soto. Mine has no Duncan stop then.
Shelve slots are numbered 1-36 and 37-72 by the way.
I do not use the slots at the far ends because I find it difficult to remove the records and fear damaging them.

Hi Fran!
I see you've been bitten by the data bug. Good for you! Good for us! I'll be looking forward to seeing the list grow. Here's mine for the list. I've added a Miscellaneous Notes in case you find it useful later. When doing my Standard data I've found stuff in my notes area that led to new categories over the years. Good luck with the project!

1. Model Designation: C-19

2. Serial Number: 136969

3. Bedplate Pinstriping: No

4. "Official Laboratory" Medallion: Round

5. Exact Wording of the Medallion: Please be precise: N/A - currently has "Diamond Disc, Official Laboratory Model, Thos. A. Edison"

6. Record Storage: Drawers or Shelves? Two shelves - (1-36 each strip - replacements)

7. Cabinet Wood Type: Mahogany or Oak? Mahogany

8. Duncan Stop?: No

9. Dealer Tag: Name/Address, Location On Machine: None

10. Original Dated Sales Receipt/Shipping Documentation, etc.: None

11. Grille cloth? Color? N/A - currently has maroon

12. Misc. notes: Patent plate on front left inside of case - anodized aluminum with die cut corners (last patent date May 23, 1916), has green TT felt, reproducer serial number B46991 (thought to be original to machine), speed control knob on top of bedplate (left, rear), case finish is red mahogany (outside is refinished), machine acquired from antique shop in Healdsburg, CA in 2004 - now located in Covina, CA. 05/04/14.
