Please post some pictures of your EMGXa and Expert Junior to the British forum if you have not already done so. We would love to see pictures!CarlosV wrote:For regular 78s it was the EMG Xa until the spring broke, and for the time being it's the Expert Junior until I get the EMG spring replaced. I also frequently use the Columbia 810 in my living room. I figure that if I keep using it, my wife would think twice before chopping it in little pieces - she hates that huge box in the living room.
For Pathé discs I like to use the Pathé Concert (made to play the 50 cm discs) and the concert automatique (coin-op), both sound great with their large horns.
Blue Amberols I hear with the Opera, and 2-minute cylinders with a Columbia BK equally shared with an Edison home (which I use to play wax amberols).
I also use frequenly the one I keep in my garage (where I store and clean the discs), it's a HMV made for India, theoretically transportable (it has a handle) but very heavy and bulky - great sound, though. I like to play it when I am cleaning the discs.
Which machine do your play the most?

For quite a while it was my Brunswick Seville, now it is the Cortez.
I am doing a major re-arrangement, so I will probably start using the Seville more when I can get to it more easily.
All of this is being supplanted by an Atwater Kent radio that I am broadcasting appropriate music to.

well i think i'm the odd one out i have all my records both cyl and discs(78s-45s-lp's) in my computer on a external drive so that i can take my collection everywhere
however when i'm in a acousic mood (it happens!)and i wanna play with my toys i use my trusty amberola 30 for blue amberols my standard b for 2m and my hmv 102 for discs and a lindstrom hornless for Pathé discs aldough i also use my Pathé-girard for that purpose
for columbia 20th century i use my columbia type C
and sometime i just pick a machine at random
