It should be changed to 'have you raised enough money for the item on the top of your wants list'
All can be reached except money. This answer is NO. such a shame.

Often true, but it is much more satisfying to fulfill your wildest dream with small financial resources outside of auction houses. Santa is on the road to bring me a "Monarch de Luxe No. 15b" (the earlier German variant of the "Melba") which cost me about the price of a nice Edison Standard. A photo is provided later.wtt11 wrote:It should be changed to 'have you raised enough money for the item on the top of your wants list'

Congratulations of this seldom seen Edison Gem E. I was watching this machine (not as a bidder) and was surprised by the final price and lack of bids, I think you got a very good buy and it's in such nice condition. There seems to be very few of these around and far fewer coming up for sale.Andersun wrote:I found a real nice Edison GEM Model E. It needed a good cleaning and I changed out the horn. It sounds real nice which is surprising for a GEM.Phonolair wrote: Congratulations of this seldom seen Edison Gem E. I like all manner of mechanical music, so the thing at the top of my want list is a cylinder or disc music box. I'm still learning about them.

I will settle for the most expensive machine EMG ever made, the Mark VII in walnut, a wood rarely used on British made machines.
Since it has been estimated that no more than 100 Mark VII's of all variants were made, the chances of finding one for sale are somewhere between nothing and no chance, and if one ever did appear the owner could probably name their own price.
