That's my specialty: "Gee, I don't know..."
George P.
At least I can be confident when I say "I know nothing"- I heard it from an expert

Another way to say this is......
"thanks for nothing"....

. Sorry, I couldn't help myself...

.
That didn't even occur to me. I really should learn to proofread before I post

Nice looking original! I'm assuming a low serial number since the mandrel appears to be gun metal rather than tiger-striped. I'm not sure when the changeover was made but I believe it was quite early.

That's very possible, I believe the serial number is 3 digits based on the small portion visible in the photos (I have many more, but none of the full data plate, unfortunately.) I'll find out, now I'm curious!

My best find was the Victrola VV-IV I received for Christmas. I know it is not a rare machine, but it is the first Victor I have ever owned. Congrats on all of your finds from this year, and good hunting in the next.

The coloring is very similar to mine, a softer brownish red mahogany. Mine also has the gun metal mandrel. A very nice example, a purchase you won't regret, I'm sure. Congrats!

Hi again
While 2014 hasn't been my best year, I have reignited an interest in phonographs and I felt
very privileged to locate two items, both late this year:
1. An Amberola 30 (Serial Number - 236)
Good condition for USD$236.50 (ebay), although needs work.
2.An Edison A 85 – (Serial number - 814)
Not yet taken possession yet, though it appears to need considerable work – AUD$200
Half the fun is in the chase...

Well, it is indeed quite early!

Sweet!
I like mine too:
There's a good reason yours and mine have L rather than Diamond A reproducers.

Rene, #10, really?
That's what I call EARLY!
